What is Marriage?
It is the formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship.
Sustaining a happy marriage is no joke. It requires constant effort from both parties to keep the relationship going and to meet each other’s needs.
What is True Love?
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13: 4-7
True Love isn’t a fairy tale. And getting married isn’t as simple as meeting the person of your dreams, having a wedding then living happily ever after. Real love isn’t about what you experience on the wedding day. Real love is about getting dirt and grime up your sleeves. It requires us to do hard things, to forgive each other, to support each other’s dreams, to comfort in times of grief and to care for the family.
Marriage is a commitment.
Don’t take marriage lightly. If you are not able to commit, then don’t do it.
When are you ready to commit?
When you have a real desire to be together with your partner in the future. A sense of togetherness, an identity as a couple and not just two individuals. It also involves making your partner a priority and a willingness to sacrifice for him or her. It also means that you have decided to give up other choices or possibilities and stay focused on your partner and marriage.
